About me

Lauren Beirne (Adjunct Associate Professor, RVCC) A New Jersey native and RVCC alum, Lauren is a dance artist and educator with an extensive background in movement theatre, yoga, design, and visual arts. She holds a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and an MFA from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, both in dance performance, choreography, and pedagogy (mentored by professionals Randy James, Joy Kellman, and Sean Curran). Lauren has performed with Randy James Dance Works, Kimani Fowlin, Kate Weare, Deborah Jowitt, Motus Dance Theatre, The White Rabbit Cabaret, NMDP, Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, Suzanne Beahrs Dance, and Carol Mendes & Artists.

In 2015, she founded her own Brooklyn-based company, Lauren Beirne Dance Works. Her work has been presented by A&E Networks, The Actor's Fund Art Center in Brooklyn, Dumbo Dance Festival, Dixon Place, West Fest/Top Floor at Martha Graham, John Jay College, FDU, Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, Integrated Visions, Brooklyn College, Sacred Heart University, HeART in Motion, and the Green Space LIC. Lauren has enjoyed working with the RVCC Dance Department and its wonderfully diverse students since 2019. She is currently on faculty at The Dance Connection and has served as co-director of The Nutcracker  there since 2022.
